Good looking reproduction (fake)ALBANY FLASK on ebay - 9/19/2008 2:29:27 PM    sewellbottleman Posts: 413 Joined: 1/29/2007 From: Mantua Township/Sewell section Status: offline There is a good looking AlBANY flask for bid on ebay.Although the description and the pictures back it up the flask appears to have an iron pontil.None of the original ALBANY flasks had an iron pontil.This is the infamous fake ALBANY not an original.I have another post a few lines down describing ways to tell the originals from the reproductions.When I first looked at the bottle it looked original,upon closer inspection it turned out that the flask was indeed a reproduction.The positioning of the words ALBANY GLASS WORKS ALBANY N.Y. and the styling of the font on the letters is incorrect.I would hope someone would'nt doctor an iron pontil onto a flask.Here is the link to the flask: http://cgi.ebay.com/Albany-Glass-Works-Flask-Iron-Pontil-Sailing-Ship_W0QQitemZ170263746446QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item170263746446&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A10%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14  Hope this is helpful to some one considering purchasing this flask.It is already at 51.00s too much for the reproduction.Thanks Steve  _____________________________ If you are traveling at the speed of light and you turn on your headlights would they work?
