Hello to all you "diggers",
I am new to the forum and want to post some photos to try to find out what type of bottles I have and their value.  How do I take the photos and get them on my post?
What settings do you all recommend for a digital camera? What background colors should I use for what colors of bottles.

I will be sell ing all my bottles due to moving in the future and now I am trying to catalog them.  I have a few shows noted that are close to me and may try to go to them and see if I can sell some there.  I really do not want to get into the ebay thing as trying to ship in a timely manner would mean a 24 mile round trip drive for me to get to the post office. I am located in south, central Florida

I lived and dug bottles in Key West in 1960-63 so some of them are from that old dump where Smathers Beach is now.  Sadly, I threw away a lot of bottles when I moved back in late 70's thinking they were worthless.  A lot of those were unmarked and now I find out they were probably worth something.

I also have some old medicine bottles with contents and in boxes, apothecary bottles, chemists beakers and other medical things used to decorate my office.

Thanks for the assistance, this is really a job, been on the internet for 4 days now and still can not find all the bottles.

Linda Hi

Welcome to the forum, there are a lot of good folks here willing to help out.

You can post the pics directly from you puter, keep them under 200kp. Click the Click here to upload link and the box to embed pic. and wait for the prompts. It's that easy. Even a retired old coot like me can do it.

As far as the pics I like to backlight my bottles especially the dark colored ones.  There is a backlight feature on your camera.  I use an old 35mm preview box for my backlight. Something along the lines of the lights you use for x-rays would work. Out side light  is very good also.

I'm adding a link for bottles in general for your research. More than you probably ever wanted to know about bottles. Start with the Glossary and go from there.  There are pics with the descriptions to help.
