Didn't get anything diving, and nothing actually 'digging'. But I got a couple of ebay steals, a flea market major score, and a couple of construction site 'pick ups'. These will all be for sale if anyone wants to PM me before I list them on Ebay

This first one I got on Ebay for $31, mislisted. no damage, pontiled

Big square smooth base, aqua bitters. Lists for a lot higher. Fun to get a good bottle when it slips though the cracks on Ebay. Lately it's getting harder to tell if something slipped through the cracks, or if the prices are taking a dive :(

I think the general concensus is that the low and mid range stuff takes a dive during a recession, and the high end stuff continues to soar, as even non bottle 'investors' put their money into 'art and collectables' because it is a more solid investment than stocks, bonds, or even currencies.

I dont think this bitters is a killer high end investment type bottle, but I still think I got it for good money

This was definately my score of the week. Doesn't photograph so well, but it is a huge heavy medicine that I've never seen before that I got for $12 a flea market!

Dr. Raspails Specific Cordial. Never seen or heard of it before ! Nice early crude embossing. The only one I could find was listed in Odells' for $176.00 back in 2001 I think. Nice mint one.

Then later in the week I was visiting a friend down in Mass, doing a good deed (long story), and was rewarded with a couple of bottle finds. My buddy and I were driving through a suburb of Boston, and saw a very small construction site where they were putting in a foundation, but they were hitting a ton of white ash in the process, we could see it a mile away. Sure enough, we looked through the fence and could see bottles.
The guy down in the hole said we couldn't come in, and to go away, but after a while, he saw me drooling through the fence at a green jar down in the hole. I thought it was an old bottle, but it turned out to be a Ball jar, but at least it was a great Ball jar !

No damage, but no lid. Even without the lid it is a good find in my book

Last but not least, a nice poison, or colored druggist, or both :)

Has a "crack" in it, I think it was in the making, but that won't fly if I try to sell it. It doesn't have a "hit" point where it was boinked in to , it's one of those string like cracks, where you sit and turn it from side to side and the shape of the crack or bruise changes, and you say' that's not a crack, thats just a line or fold in the glass, see? I can make it disappear when I turn it this way.

It's a frikkin crack. Can't complain, it was just laying there in the pile

Riker Hegeman

They made a lot of bottles, several poisons. I collect colored druggists, and I haven't found a nice poison in years, so it was a nice one to find.

thats all for now! thanks for lookin

Bram,....That's quite a cross section of interesting finds! How'd you persuade the hard hat to let you in? Love the ball jar, The Dr. Raspail's and the pontiled South Reading bottle!....The blue druggist is cool too. Were there any more bottles? It amazes me that some of these construction guys pass up this stuff,....fortunately for us.... Great finds.

HI Joe,

Yeah, it's funny, but the construction guys have too much going on to think about bottles and things when they are using heavy equipment etc. They are focused on the pipes, or whatever they are doing.
There were a few other bottles we could see. We were using a long stick, and sticking it through the wire fence and pulling bottles down the dirt pile. We got one other local clear druggist in good condition, but most of the other stuff was screw top, typical TOC. We talked about climbing the fence on a Sunday, and digging through the piles, and risk getting arrested. Hmmm, we'll see.

Nice finds Bram! Whether you are hunting in the woods, rivers, attic, flea markets or on the computer in your living room... it is always a thrill to find something! I really like the cordial bottle! I got one of my best Ebay finds last week... this GIII-25 inkwell in yellow green... only 3 known! One of my best inks... that certainly made my week... hell, month!
