Found this in the pit i was digging under my porch. (Had the post under "Digging Finding")
Hard to believe some thing can clean up like this, from what it looked like coming out of the ground! Looks like inside of an oyster shell? Has the pretty (rainbows) of color like u find in some shells interior. Well carved, I might b able 2 do this w/ a modern drill, but i doubt it... And th back looks like the outer portion of the shell.
Smalls seem to be my more interesting finds lately.

Oh yes... the little woman , is trying to incorporate the button into some of her knitting...
That is a decent photo of it, though does not show the rainbow patina that shell has well.
trying to get the mojo going to head down to an embankment farm dump... major mosquitoes but won't find much if i just sit here... so bug spray and Bug Baffler coat And an hour of daylight ...

Nice!  Yeah, they were made from clams and oysters.  I've found some tiny ones in privies, but they crumbled once I picked them up.

Yeah, I got bitten pretty badly last night while watering the garden.  Today, Joe said, "What happened to your eye?  The bites on my face made it swell.  As soon as I can it, I am going to get some natural Repel, which contains lemon and oil of eucalyptus.  No other natural things seem to work for me.  I hate to spray on a bunch of chemicals just to go outside for a few minutes.

So I did run down there for a bit. I hate bug spay 2, i don't spray on my skin. Thick on my cloths though. Also have a screen bug jacket called the Bug Baffler. Works great w/ a baseball cap. Could not c well, getting dark, only thing i brought home was the stopper in the bottom right of the pic.

That button is amazing....There was so many things they did back then...creatively handmade and ever so intricate and unique.  You never find things like that now days....I have had buttons not last 2 months....and thats ones been around for a hundred plus some probably!
