We are excavating a spanish galleon in the Philippines and found a Rye Whiskey bottle on top of the site. It is a Hannis Distllery Co Rye Whiskey bottle. Can anyone give us an approximate date? Shape: Square Seam: on diagonals extending up the neck, but not [clearly] into lip Colour: dark brown Marks: Base - patented and an unreadable date? Front - Mount Vernon Pure Rye Whiskey on 3 lines Back - Hannis Dist'l'g Co. Full five on 2 lines (capitals) - Re-use of bottle prohibited on 2 lines Sorry camera broken at the moment! It's probably a bottle that was discarded over the side of a boat and it isn't indicative to your Spanish Galleon.
