I have been trying to find some information about this bottle. I think it is called a pumpkin seed bottle? I have no idea what would have been in it. Perfume? It has a star of david on it and the letters KB inside the star.

Nope, not a nurser. There is more going on there. Jimmy Durkin, Spokane, Wash. used a similar flask as a sample or give away for whiskey or wine. However, his had a 5 pointed star embossed and no initials. This one has a Jewish star so there is possibly / probably a religous conotation. Perhaps ceremonial wine? Jews have always been big on wine.

I really like these little flasks, I hope someone else can add some additional info.

Thats not really evidence or accurate.  It looks like it has an angled neck which I've always assoicated with nursers or invalid feeders.  Could easily be something else though, bottlers would often use other bottle forms for different things, but just because it has a star of david embossed on it doesn't rule it out as a nurser.

Hello Everyone,

I own several little flasks similar to the above that are both embossed and unembossed.  I firmly believe they are sample whiskey, but all have straight necks and if they had slanded necks, I would go with the nurser.  Most nurser have the slanded necks except for doll nursers.  Enjoy and have a

MERRY CHRISTMAS & Happy New Year,

A nurser if the baby was fasting maybe. It looks way to small. I'm not sure about kosher whiskey either. I'd lean toward something in the clensing ritual for the bodies or something. Have you tried taking it to a Synagogue? A Rabbi may know for sure. The ritual may have a "one use only, then destroy" and that may be why  there are not a bunch around.

My wife collected nursers for many, many years and we always thought it was a nursing bottle for baby dolls. We no longer have the nursing bottle book, but it is in their.

That looks more like the star of Texas than the star of David.

With all the logic that we're using here, I have this question.  Is this bottle below for religious rites?

Merry Christmas,

Definitely a doll's nursing or feeding bottle. We have a large collection, including several with exactly that embosing.

O.K. First, a small complaint about a pet peeve, I have to address this to CRYPTIC because his profile reveals no real name. Maybe I am having Antique-Bottles.net newbie problems but I don't know any better.

Cryptic, please supply us with additional information. 1. Show us a better picture of the "Star". You described it as a " Star of David" which means to me a JEWISH star. King David was Jewish you know. However, one or two didn't see it properly perhaps because they called it a TEXAS star or some such thing. 2. Show us a side view. div2roty / Matt (thank you) seemed to think it had an angled or turned up neck. I don't see it that way. Looks straight to me. 3. Please give us the dimensions. It looks too big for a doll nurser and too small for an infant nurser. Looks just right for a nipper or sample or give away whiskey / wine flask.

The picture posted by Dean looks exactly like the Jimmy Durkin flasks I referred to in my first post. Could you give us a size on that one also please? cowseatmaize / Eric (thank you) points out that the size, if similar to sample whiskey / wine flasks, would require multiple refills or baby starvation if it were actually a human baby nurser.

All that being said, I do not want this post to sound too critical or complaining. It is difficult to expess my true "tongue in cheek" attitude by simply typing a post. I am enjoying this thread and hope everyone else does too. Please do not take me too seriously. I believe and have expressed previously that I am enamored with this list / group.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and input and ideas for what this bottle might be! :)

Sorry for being a newbie. Perhaps if I enter my real name and get over 200 posts I will become an expert?

I guess I will just call it a 6 pointed star from now on. Like the one atop my X-mas tree. Hopefully this picture is better than the last one.
