Hello everyone,

Need help identifying this bottle/jar that I have had for years. Approximate date, use, value? I belive I picked this one up on property north of Columbia, South Carolina.

In short, it's a pickle jar from around 1900-1920.

By "pickle" I mean any type of food which could be sold in a container like this.. a paper label would have described the contents.

They are only worth a couple dollars, I'm sorry to say.

Hello Scott,

Welcome aboard the Bottle Express, and thanks for bringing the jar. Excellent photos, sir. What are the dimensions of that guy?

It's an early machine made jar. Might be a mustard, or a pickled product jar, maybe even tomato something or other. Made in the first quarter of the 20th Century. Valuwise, not so much, as it is machine made and unembossed.

Its 5 1/4" tall by 3 1/2" wide. Thanks for the great info!

Hey Scott,

Most likely a metal cap, though it would have worked with a cork.
