very nice examples of hemingray jars.  Most of my insulators are hemingrays.  The oldest one being from around 1875-1876.  How old are the jars?  I allways hope to find one in an antique store but i have yet to see one.  Did see a repro hemingray globe tobacco jar, but as i said it was just a repro.

Three stunning jars, and a great photo, too.  Congrats on the new addition to your collection.

Bryan,
The center one is the Hemingrey made jar. All of the jars date from about 1860 plus or minus a few years. The first jar is known as a petal jar and was sealed with a cork and wax. The center jar had a unmarked, shallow, cup shaped, glass lid that was sealed with wax. The last jar probably used a tin coated lid similar to the one that I have on the jar. It would have been sealed with wax as well. The first and last jars are iron pontiled. All of the jars are whittled and prime examples. I have been very lucky to find them.

Nice jars,do you think the other two could be Hemingray also?I have heard the bell shaped wax sealers attributed to them or Ohio glasshouses, also.I dig alot of broken ones here in Ohio.I had a glass push down lid a couple years ago that I sold.If you can find a picture of one,you may want to post it,because I don't think most guys would know what they had if they came across one.I had mine laying (full of dirt) in my bottle cleaning area for a year or more before a buddy told me what it was.Good luck finding one.
