Digger George and Bottle Digger showed up last night and we got out fairly early this morning to find a privy. After Probing a few sites we agreed on a hole to dig. The concrete was sunk about 6 inches or so. We got out the pick and the sledge and got started. After about 2 feet we hit a pontiled base. Then it was newer stuff for about 2 more feet. Then we hit the Flasks. We dug ten Historical flasks and six were perfect. The first flask was a For Pikes peak/eagle. The second one was a dbl eagle 1/2 pint. The third  Dbl.Sheaf of wheat. The next was a hunter/ For Pikes Peak. The next two were Union Clasp Hands/ Eagle Flasks marked with the maker and Pittsburgh. We also dug a hutch a blob beer and a few good local Druggists. The one piece that was a killer find but was broken is a Joshua Wright Phila. Barrel fruit jar.
There are a few other Bottles and jars we found but until we start cleaning them I won't mention them. Here are a few pics.

Killer dig, and it couldn't have happened for a better group of guys. One good historical flask is the best I've ever done (and numerous broken ). Even one is a treat...The Bottle Gods have smiled upon you! Thanks for sharing, I can't wait to see the other pix. ~Jim

How much cash did you guys slip Zane???  I didn't give him any when I came up to dig and he took me to a TOC-'20s backyard dump.

PS - Those orange shovels will snap if you try to pry w/ 'em.

Hey Rick, I'm offended by that statement! They didn't pay me they just promised not to give away my privy finding secrets. I can't wait to post some pics from this dig. We found a lot of good stuff broken and unbroken. The only thing I don't know is which one of the flasks is the best. A little help would be great!

    Zane,

While, the flasks listed are fairly common other than maybe the double sheaf of wheat (clear?),the
Pike's peak-hunter would be the most desirable and worth a little more, the other pikes peak probably the next best.

     Zane,

I have dug that mold of a sheaf of wheat. We have dug several similar clear examples with a smaller sheaf of wheat on both sides. They were all marked with a Pittsburgh mark on the the hinge molded base. The one pictured is nice for sure but would still say the Pike's Peak is tops.Great finds!Doug

Rick,

Nice to meet you. That 22 footer is awesome!!!!!

The company is :

http://www.nightvisionsystems.com/

on 542 Kemmerer Lane
Allentown, PA 18104

I am an engineer here and do the electronic design. The thermal imager you see on the front page will find landmines and I think it will find pits; going to try it soon.

My dad was born in Allentown. I am really trying to come to Allentown soon!

Attached is a photo of me in a Saloon woody.

Karl
