I just pick up this mint flask and was wondering what the Mckearin number is for it. It appears to be a pint that is embossed on one side... the father of his country with a picture of washington and on the other side gen. taylor never surrenders with a picture of taylor. Also above is dyottville glassworks philad.a ...Bottle has rolled lip and smooth base with line through middle of it. I am looking to purchase a Mckearin book for flasks reference. Does Mckearin have different books or only one ? What is the name of the book that would be the best to ID flasks?

Gl-38 Helen Mckearin's book is the bible for historical flasks, but you may have trouble finding a copy. They sometimes sell for 3-4-5 times the value of your flask there. Very nice by the way!  Some guy was selling one for 225 at a show in New Hampshire. One can be had for 60 or so if you do a little searching online though. Some of the price guides out there have good Historical Flask sections. Jim Megura's Official Price Guide To Bottles has a fairly decent one, but no where near as detailed as McKearin's.
Lobes.

Nice flask made at Dyottville between the years 1848 to 1860.Dr Dyott had long lost the factory
at that point in his life.If you dont want to spend a lot of money for the Mckearin book
here is a web site with the complete line drawings of all the historical flasks charted in the book
by Helen and George McKearin( American Bottles and Flasks and Their Ancestry). It is in
PDF format. http://bottlenut.com/content/estore.asp  The link is on the lower right of the first page.Dyottville flasks are one of my strong points give me a shout with any questions you may have. Thanks Steve

nice GI-38 like everone says the mckearin is the bible and you find them for about 150 to 175$ look at amazon.com for books should be able to find a used one and as to price the closest you will get is the digger odells historical flasks has all of the flask and realized prices from between 1985 and 2003 but since 2003 alot of the flasks have gone up and some have gone down also the kovels 13th edition has alot of the flaskls in it but the prices are higher than odells you can always look at glassworks auctions and all of the other auction houses to get what  was paid for diffrent flasks during the last 15 years or so also check back auctions from hecklers auctions and american bottle auction at their home page you will find past auctions that you can check the prices if you have any question pm me i have mckearins and other books and could hlep i also have sold alot of my duplicate flasks and still have around 45 or so left sorry for rambling hope i was able to help
see ya bob
