I have got to agree with you all on the looks of this piece...... I have been researching Hood's and did come up with this info, they had been in buisiness up till 1922. I didnt find any info on this jar/mug but I did find a ceramic sewing thimble they gave away as a advertising giveaway thing....This item stands about 4" tall and the  base glazing has some crazing, maybe in time some more info on it may surface. I didnt realize it was that small.  That actually bodes in its favor for being a real piece.
