For you Texas collectors, the Houston show is this Saturday, July 24 from 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM at Crown Plaza Hotel 12801 Northwest Freeway (US 290, Tidwell/Hollister Exit).  Admission is $2.00.
Early admission during dealer set up is available for $10. Friday 6:00-10:30 PM.
Show chairman is Barbara Puckett 713-862-1690.
Anyone who can make it please try to attend.  Barbara is taking the risk herself to put on this show since the Houston bottle club no longer exists.  If she loses money again this year there probably will not be another bottle show in Texas for a long time.

The Houston bottle show was successful and they plan to have another one next year.  No thanks to ANY of the Texas collectors on this forum, if I am wrong about that please correct me.
I'll post pictures of some of my purchases.  I was looking for a few Texas Hutchinsons.

Picked up a few Texas drugstores also.  This is half of them, the one that's hard to read is a scarce Port Arthur with  embossed eagle on a mortar & pestle.  The others didn't photograph well.
I sold alot of bottles, attendance was good, I'm glad bottle shows will continue in Houston for at least another year.
Jay

I went to the show 10 years ago. Drove almost 500 miles and didn't come home with any Texas bottles. I was amazed that a Texas bottle show didn't have any Texas bottles. Bought a few master inks. Doyle Bailey had some sodas and DPs from Texas but I really wanted meds or drugstores. The only Texas med at the show was a Streasau from Courtney, Tx. that was bought before the show even started. Looks like the show has changed since, and you found some decent Texas stuff. Like those Corsicanas. Were the prices reasonable for what you bought??? Robert

There were lots of Texas sodas there, probably over 1000.  Texas drug stores and medicines probably less than 50.  The Corsicana's were only 10 bucks, the picture bottles were more.  Most of the sales actually took place Fri night during early admission.  Maybe you can try it again next year.

Gotta love a state where you can drive 500 miles and still be in the same state. If you time it right you can drive from the top of Delaware to the bottom in less than 2 hours and thats the long way for the state.

I remember driving across the panhandle of Texas in 1971 with my parents on the way to Tennessee and Arkansas to visit relatives. Even the panhandle seemed to never end. I am surprised at the lack of local druggists at the shows I've been to in the past few years. Used to be so many druggists available at the shows. Now there might be one or two sellers with a box of locals amongst the entire show of dealers and so many of those end up being from Sact'o or Stockton or Fresno. These days most all of the bottle shows are held north of San Francisco which I guess makes sense. Nor Cal has always had most of the historically significant cities, the Gold Rush, logging camps...
