This is my first visit to this site. I don't know anything about bottles, jars, etc. A friend of my husbands gave us two crates of old mason/kerr jars. I can handle cleaning the jars, but how the heck do you clean the zinc lids?

Hi Sue, welcome to the forum! Regarding your zinc lids, you might try using a soft bristle brush; tooth, shoe etc. The zinc lids shouldn't be 'shined', just remove the loose soil. In some cases, the lids a worth as much, if not more than some of the jars due to scarcity. Try to get a hold of The Red Book - the best source regarding fruit jar values. Welcome again!
