I dug this one, and I actually forgot about it until a few weeks ago. I had it sitting in muriatic acid for over a month to try to dissolve the contents. Originally, it was sort of a white powder that was caked on the inside of the bottle. I couldn't get it out with a brush or anything. But after I took it out of the acid, the inside was covered in an almost icelike crystal coating. With vigorous shaking of copper, I dislodged a bit of it, and it came out in flakes, like sheets of ice. The stuff is very stubbornly stuck to the inside of the glass. Could it have been a reaction with the acid that caused this? And how do I get rid of this annoyance? The bottle is a medicine bottle, so there could've been any sort of prescription in it.

Looks like if you let it dry out completely, most of that stuff will shrink, desiccate, and curl up. Then a dry copper shake should dislodge a significant amount of the residue, but give it a good long time to dry out, like a few months.

It's been dry for a few weeks now... There's no free water that I can see in it. But you're right, there may be some water still mixed in with the "crystal" stuff... What do you think the original contents coulda been? ...Probably not poisonous, right?
