Would appreciate any information . This bottle is embossed Bunte or Buntes on the front along with the word Chicago and some other unreadable word. The bottom is embossed with Vivian Onthank Co, Boston. The bottle resembles a modern olive bottle in shape. It is 6" in height and 6" in circumference. The only thing I found was an old candy company in Chicago called Bunte, that later merged with another company. Vivian and Onthank was a glassware company. Not really sure of the age.

bunte or buntes from german to english translates to the word multicolored.
judging from the wide mouth of the jar i would guess it held a food product such as
olives. which are green black and other colors. this is speculation.

Hello. The logo on your bottle is identical to the logo found on the candy company' s large paneled product jars. Perhaps your bottle contained something like candy sprinkles for cake decorations(?)

Thanks for the information. I inherited a large collection of bottles and jars that I have been sorting through and selling some on ebay. I don' t know a lot about them but I' m learning and enjoying this project.

Onthank is found on the bottom of some fruit jars I' ve dug.
I believe it was the Victory fruit jar or the Queen fruit jars from Boston.
It is probably the glass company and they are associated with food products.
At least from the ones I' ve dug.
