Whats on the base of the hero jar and can you take a picture in outside light to better show the color? depending on whats there you either got a super deal or an ok deal since it doesn't have the lid and band which can be 60-80% of value.

The Hero ine is Redbook 1248,  $100-$150 with the complete metal lid and band.  That metal lid is really hard to find though, so you can make do with an improved style glass lid and metal screw band that you should be able to find for about $5.00.  I guess that would make your total cost about $45.00, which would be on the high side of retail - but what really matters is that you like it and it's still a cool jar.  It's interesting that a half gallon Hero ine sold recently on the North American Glass auction site for a mere $65.00 complete, but the quart went for $135.00 (remember you still have to add buyer's premium and shipping to those numbers).  Still seemed a bit modest to me.  Enjoy your jar & don't worry that you maybe spent a little too much on it, you'll pick up a few bargains along the way to make up for it.  -Tammy

Hello jskirk[  I would like to see a clearer picture of the finish on your HERO INE jar.  I do not seem to see the transfer bead, so I wondered if the mold seams go up over the threads.   I also wondered if there is a baffle seam on the bottom, or an Owen shear off mark on the bottom.

At least you know it was a fair purchase.   And, it is a good example of glass work.

the value depends on several things, whats on the base, what color is it etc the hero ine in hg cornflower blue with unmarked or mold # only is 500 + (rb 1248-1) whereas the rest in hg run 75-100. thats why pictures of the base and color are important.
