5 and 10 gallons.( I have never actually tried to see how much they hold) They have the dates 1929 and 1931 on them and stand 21 inches tall. I think they look like old water dispenser bottles, but my husband says they are battery acid bottles. where can I find out for sure what they are, and if they are worth anything?

Can you post some pictures? There are a lot of people here that could give you a pretty good idea as to what they are and a ballpark on the price.

after searching for a while, I was able to find this picture on the net. It is simular to mine, except the necks on mine are thicker looking. The color is about the same.

They are water fount jugs from the 1930s to the early 60s and they are perfect for change. When they are full they only weigh a few thousand pounds and you can buy a new car.LoL

I'm sorry, but did anyone else giggle when this post first popped up?  Maybe it's just me.

Maybe silicone ... not glass.  You can take that for yep.

I use 6 1/2 gallon ones for making beer and meade.  The ones I use are intended for this use.

Grolsch bottles ... oh yeah, I know them well. They are for bottling homebrew ... aren't they?
