Until now, I guess. I'm wondering about this shard. Is it a crier or could it have been common. The inside has a wide ledge (presumably for sealing it). Is this a wax seal example?

Note that the entire rim appears to be applied from a separate piece of glass. Strikes me as crude and old old.

It is not a typical wax sealer fruit jar. It appears that the closure for this particular jar could have been any of the following 3 types:
1) Cork sealed with wax
2) Kline stopper
3) Willoughby Stopple

Thanks junkyard.

Anybody recognize this as similar to something they have??
BTW - What is a Kline stopper? I think I have seen the Willoughby on here. I believe that is like a compression ring thingy.

Thanks Bay,
Man, if it was a pontilled jar, I feel safe that it was a genuine crier. Thanks for showing yours. I think I could start liking jars more (if I could just find a few like that whole). Thanks again.
