I noticed that on some of the Hutchinson bottles, there seems to be a crack going across the funnel of the bottle, my question is, is it a crack or flaw? Here' a  picture of what I'm taking about, any input would be appreciated.

Can you tell if it looks like it is just on the surface? Can you see a shear inside the glass?

I know the mark you are talking of.  While on some examples there could be a crack in the bottle, many hutchs have a ring around the out side of the lip, (right were the mark is in your picture) which was created the blower when he tooled the lip.  Often you can feel the edge from the bottom of it.  It is just how it was made, the extra glass was pushed down by the tool, leaving that edge.  It is not a flaw, unless you have a crack, which you can see all the way through the bottle.

Usually when looking for defects like a crack if you tilt the bottle at different angles you will see some depth/ flashing reflecting from the light if it's a crack.   Paul
