Hm.
Let you guys be the judge and jury.
What you see is two bottles from the Jim Beam Tribute to Remington. Keep in mind there is a series of these remington bottles each bottle being a different color and label.
The bottle on the left is fine, but the bottle on the right is what is killing me, you can see that the embossing on the bottle on the right is different than the picture, it is identical to the one on the left.
These are label type pictures. The labels are over the embossing which is in the glass.
You can see the shadow horse embossing.
At first I thought it was faked? but then the bottle with the said embossing error only came in that color and other examples I found of that same bottle showed the exact same colors.
These came from a sale where the fella mentioned that these came from a big time beam collector.
Think I have a good true error bottle?
Could the value jump?

Yeah, I am really not a fan of this period of bottling. I bought a box of these and the price seemed right.
But My wife and I must have put in a combined 4+ hours of research on this and have been stumped, my next and last move is a call to Beam Distilleries and see if the old data might have shown them doing this in 1970's to this bottle.
I feel safe to put it up at auction saying "Possible error".
But until I can find out for sure it will be just that, a possible error.

If I did a good deal of research and still couldn't find any info then I wouldn't have any problem putting RARE ERROR?!? in the listing. That will definately grab attention. I wouldn't think anyone else would have a problem with it. It's not like your listing another rare heinz bottle. If you sell it then post the link. I'd love to see how much it goes for. Swizzle

I figure with the "?!?" marks on it your safe. If you find out later that its a common error then you can correct the listing. As far as it being a rare error, I don't know its not rare and neither do you. So in my opinion after extensive research coming up short it might as well be rare even if its not and if its not someone will correct you and you can ask them where they got their info. Swizzle

Hey Harold, I would list it with all the Remington gun collectables. Folks that collect that kind of stuff are always looking for something that they don't have and their buddies don't have. First on the block kind of thing.

The plot thickens!
Jim Beam CO. Was stumped!
I was refferred to others like the Whiskey Museum in Kentucky.
Stay tuned because an otherwise common decanter might be a little diamond!

My guess is someone at the factory made themselves an error bottle for there own collection or a newby worker made the mistake and the bottle wasn't destroyed. Either way its a really cool find. Definately keep us posted on your research. Swizzle

I was reading one of my bottle mags from 1970/1 and it had a article about some guys getting busted. They were using old jim beam molds to make bottle for themselves to sell for a profit. Maybe they manufactured this error bottle thinking they could get big bucks for it? Who knows. Swizzle

Yup, I am a bit disapointed.
I really thought that would do some damage, but only one watcher on it.
I may end the listing.
The good news is I have a very very old crude and really big handblown, pontiled pitcher I picked up today....muhahahahahaha
Wait till you guys see this....

Ive learned to hate Beam and Avon.  Cool bottles that never amount to anything.  Better for me to collect bottles at least 100 years older.  JB in NJ
