At a flea market type outdoor antique market in KY this past Sunday I noticed a "rare" misspelled Jumbo peanut butter jar.  On the bottom of the jar was spelled "Jubmo".  The dealer had around $90 on the thing (but would have taken less) and I wondered if it was worth it.  Any idea?  She is likely to be back next month and, if its worth a couple of grand I'll go back for it.  - Jim

Thats a new one on me Jim , never heard of or seen one of them . As for value it would take a hard core collector to pay hundreds for it I would think . Then to on second thought, I have a few bottles I got kind of stupid as to what I paid to get them myself !!

I Jim, I have a nice small collection of Jumbos that I have dug or bought. I have not heard of that misspeel. But they do things every day to try to take us collecters. A while back I bought the Jumbo fish bowl to find out they had repo'ed it also. I should have check before. But now I know.Check the books

They reproduce the seven ounce Jumbos as well in different colors, I have one in cobalt blue somewhere around here. They also reproduce the lids too. Its all up for grabs today , being our legislators sit on their arses and do nothing to prevent it.

Good greef, don't pay 90 simolians for it. Watch ScrewBay and you can get one for 20. There is also one that says Jubmo on the front.

I found it listed in red book 9   #1347   there is a error jar with JUBMO
it all depends on what size it is ,that begin said 90.00 is a bit much to pay the only ones that will bring a high price is the banks but the lid has to be with it

Thanks all,

The monthly Burlington Ky show used to be a great one, a lot of primitives.  Then, a few years ago the KY Dept of Revenue cracked down on the collection of sales tax and the # of booths shrunk considerably.  Years later there are a few good dealers but a lot more empty spaces and garage sale types than ever before, so I did not expect to find a real steal on a rare bottle.

As always, great info.

I used to do that show every month. I did not quit because of the tax , it was the arrogant way they came in there and made such a big speel about telling me I would pay it. I told them they could have it and pulled out around nine that morning. Never have went back.

I do the Springfield Extravaganza as well , may quit it after seeing the type of buying crowd that was there the last show. People seem to be very conservative over all,  right now.  It is no longer all antiques there anymore either. They even let people in there now selling crafts and flowers. There were sure a lot of empty spaces there the last show as well, not much of an extravaganza. I have a feeling that will not change any in the future months .

The government can be so stupid sometimes. Chasing people for piddly tax money at antique shows , scaring people off and killing some shows. Meanwhile there are big corporate loopholes that let millions of tax dollars slip by.
