Well, for everyday reasons, it's been sometime since Fred, Tom and I got out to dig together....actually since the last day over at the old drugstore...Today we had to outwait a chain of severe thunderstorms, that yesterday spawned a few local tornados, and when I called Tom this morning, they were still strung out all the way to Toledo....Afternoon brought sunny skies and overflowing creeks, right near our digsite was a major rushing creek, swelled well beyond it's banks. We parked and after a short hike, settled on a remote spot, that showed on the map as a Shoemaker, or Cobbler's...Five years ago Tom found this spot and we dug a bit there, but explored the rest of the area for more digs and foundations. We had returned to this area to dig a spot we scouted a few weeks ago, but the road leading in was flooded....This dump is weird, we find a lot of unusual bits and pieces but not much glass. Irons, buckles, spent shell casings, harness pieces, metal and leather,...Over the years, we've found a lot of shoe working stands there (Not sure of the proper term) and of course alot of old shoes. Also there seemed to be a few children at least, because we find marbles and other toy type items each dig there....Only posted a few pics because some didn't come out. Here's Tom and Fred opening up the area....

Okay here's the flask,....The age here went pretty far back....No pontils but Fred kicked out a real crude deep aqua 16 sided med that was around the age of this flask,...bottom was out of that one.... It got reburied...

Apologies for the out of focus pic,...This was an applied crown script embossed beer that Tom dug, and one of Freds flasks on the ground....I had more pics but the camera still has some dirt in it and some didn't turn out......Thanks for sharing,...we needed to get out, and this was a real fun day.

Swiz, I kept the flask,...although hazy, It's got a weird grass green tint that doesn't show well in the pic.

Who got the marbles?  I like the child's shoe thing.  If the spot is not too far away, it might be fun to go back and sift.  Is that an Indian on the Crackerjack coin?

Red,

I kept the marbles that I dug and gave the child's shoe thing I dug to Joe.  No, that is not an Indian on the Cracker Jack token/coin.  It is William Howard Taft, US Pres from 1909 - 1913.  A later throw.

Red,

A quick search shows the token/coin to be 1930's Cracker Jack.

Cool, Tom.  I haven't had a chance to talk with Joe about it until now.  Good score on the marbles, etc.  That was nice of you to give Joe the shoe.
