Well, for everyday reasons, it's been sometime since Fred, Tom and I got out to dig together....actually since the last day over at the old drugstore...Today we had to outwait a chain of severe thunderstorms, that yesterday spawned a few local tornados, and when I called Tom this morning, they were still strung out all the way to Toledo....Afternoon brought sunny skies and overflowing creeks, right near our digsite was a major rushing creek, swelled well beyond it's banks. We parked and after a short hike, settled on a remote spot, that showed on the map as a Shoemaker, or Cobbler's...Five years ago Tom found this spot and we dug a bit there, but explored the rest of the area for more digs and foundations. We had returned to this area to dig a spot we scouted a few weeks ago, but the road leading in was flooded....This dump is weird, we find a lot of unusual bits and pieces but not much glass. Irons, buckles, spent shell casings, harness pieces, metal and leather,...Over the years, we've found a lot of shoe working stands there (Not sure of the proper term) and of course alot of old shoes. Also there seemed to be a few children at least, because we find marbles and other toy type items each dig there....Only posted a few pics because some didn't come out. Here's Tom and Fred opening up the area....
