Just starting out - Here's what I found

Greetings all,
I'm happy to have found this forum.  I just discovered that in the 500 acres  behind my house there are at least three small dump piles.  In them I have found many bottles, but most appear to only be from the  40's to 50's.  In two hours I've found:

1 in tact Coca Cola bottle "Patent D" from the 40's
At least four other bottles as described above - broken
1 "Grapette" soda pop bottle circe 1930's
At least 2 dozen small bottles in various sizes, probably perfume bottles
Lysol dark amber bottle
"Texize" bottles
"Chlorox" bottles, many
bayer aspirin bottles
"Esquire Scuff-Kote" shoe polish bottle - history unknown
"NEHI"" bottle from the 40's, which I washed and removed the label

I still don't know what I'm doing, but it's fun.

    Anthony,
The Coke bottle is stamped "Baton Rouge, LA" on the bottom.

It's getting warm down here already.  I ran across two snakes this morning during my adventure.  It'll start getting thick with brush soon.

Your right about it getting thick. And don't forget about the sketters and gnats. We will get a couple more cool snaps before that happens though. Welcome to the forum What part of  La. are you in?

The reply shows it coming back to me and I don't appreciate your sarcasm. You obviously don't know what you are doing.

Hey Synosauras! Didn't mean to mess up your post. Thought everyone here had a sense of humor. My mistake. I was saying to you to dig that area. At least a few test holes. You never know what you may find. To heck with this "reply to" and timeouts that I have no control over and were not on this site last time I visited. Anyways,
I understand that soda bottles are gaining popularity on the collectors market. E-bay is a good place to price them( As well as AB.net). I collect pre 1900 myself. But bottles are history even if fairly recent. Break a leg! not a bottle.
