Lady with umbrella and purse - 7/8/2003 5:05:01 PM

I have an odd bottle which I have been unable to identify as to its origin. It stands 9 inches tall. It is a figure bottle of a woman. In her right hand she is holding an umbrella (parasol?) to her body and with her left hand she is holding a purse. She has a kerchief around her neck. The bottom of the bottom says:

DES.PAT.81611

5

below that is the following symbol as described:

A symbol of a oval (vertical) with a diamond shape (horizontal) through the middle with a 1 or I in the center where both symbols converge. On either side of this symbol (left side) is a 7 and (on the right side is) a 4.

I received this bottle with a laundry sprinkler in the top. I am unsure if this was a bottle containing some kind of liquid or if it was truly a laundry sprinkler bottle. There are no screw thread on the top of the bottle either inside or out. So it must have originally had a cork or stopper (or sprinkler head) in it.

The pics below show a milky appearance to the glass. This is from repeated use as a sprinkler bottle. Actually the bottle when it was new it was clear glass.

Can anyone identify the origins of this bottle for me? Your assistance would be much appreciated.

It' s possible it might be a mustache or an upper lip. I checked out the eBay auctions using " Mr. Pickwick" and can see some similarity in the face, but why is " he" holding a purse? I tried to take a pic of just the face for further identification, but they were' nt clear enough to bother with. Thanks for your input.

Hey! I like this forum. I' m not an expert on bottle collecting, but I do learn a lot by coming here and reading other posts. Thanks!
