NECIE...looks like circa 1947....weak ACL hurts the value, so guessing maybe $5 tops...

Nancy

Your ACL should be red and yellow, the bottle also came in clear and an aqua 12 ounce size according to the GONO site. You may be able to bring the color out with careful cleaning. nice find

I wouldn't be so hasty on value....If Clanton is a small town that bottle may be rare.  Reason I say that is I used to live in Montgomery and I drove the hwy several times and saw signs saying Clanton so many miles, leading me to believe it was a small town.

Hey, I agree on the value unless it is of local interest to someone.  I've learned after alot of years, if you want to clean the paint, wet the bottle, take a spec of Bar Keeper's Friend on your finger and gently rub the paint with your finger while the bottle is wet.  I've never had a problem but once, on a bottle with thin white paint that I rubbed through.  Clean it in a well lit area so you can keep an eye on your progress, and leave well enough alone...sometimes you just can't get it all clean.  By the looks of that bottle, it may be too stained, but you never know.  Start on the writing on the back, they try the front.

NECIE...yer right...ain't much out there on Lime Cola...I googled my eyes out...It may have started in Atlanta Ga in the 19-teens. There are also embossed bottles. There was a CheroCola Bottling Co. in Texas that became a Lime Cola Bottling Co.One website based in Atlanta seemed to have some history but you had ta pay for it.Small town origins do indeed play a part in value. I know naught about Clanton GA.

thanks, whiskeyman, I've been enjoying this forum since Christmas, decided I'd get on banter a little.  I've been collecting ACL's since I was a teen, and in the last few years started collecting Georgia Chero Colas.  Been fascinated at the knowledge and fanaticism of the diggers.  Always enjoy the openness in sharing tips on different bottle related issues.  I found this site through a link a member had on ebay...my other addiction......

Thanks to all of you. Clanton is located in Chilton County, AL. I've been through there lots of times, but know very little about it. I do know it's farming and fishing country. I found one census that said in 2000 the population for Clanton was 7800. So I figure in 1947, if that is the date on the bottle, there was probably very few people there at that time. But I will keep searching. And I will try to clean the label. I have my National Dope Company Hutchinson on ebay right now. Sure hope it sells. Thanks again.

My home town in GEORGIA had a lime cola plant that operated in the 1940s. The bottles were acl with some having LIME COLA all spelled out ,instead of just Lc. In the 1970s you could hardly give them away. I left a few just laying on the ground. Now you rarely see them! I have not paid attention what they go for now. Me and a friend plan to dig in a 30s/40s saturday, where we may find one ,maybe one with a good lable left on it,we also hope to find some 3 centas etc.

Thanks glass man. I've seen several of the embossed Lime Colas from other states, but not like this one. Apparently the company didn't stay in business very long. I get frustrated after a while when I can't find the information I need on them. I think I will go to the Birmingham library one day to search. The one we have locally just doesn't have much information. Do you collect mostly soda bottles? I have a few medicines too.
