Hi,
I just finished tumbling my light olive taper top soda and its ready for a major lip repair.
I was wondering if I should cut away the area around the break or just form my dam and pour the resin?
Which would have the best looking results?
Thanks,
Stinger Haut

Hi Stinger...

I would just form the dam and pour away!!! I've had pretty good luck with lip repairs and even with repairing holes...

Hi Ron,
Thank you for your response.
The bottle is a very light green/olive. So, do you think that if I don't smooth out the jagged edges from the lip that they will show up in the repaired bottles lip as being jagged?

Hi Stinger...

Here's a link to a repair thread... near the bottom of the first page you can see a repair I did... I think it looks pretty good and I don't think smoothing the scars would have made any difference...

Hi Ron,
WOW! Nice job on that ink.
I will try repairing the bottle just the way it is and will let you know how it turns out.
Thank a lot,
Stinger

Actually, Stinger, it was the Adirondack mineral water that was repaired, not the ink...

Hi Ron,
Sorry about that, however your repair on the lip was more informative because I could see what you did.
Did you lightly carve the lines to match the existing ones on the lip?

Hey Stinger...

I used scotch tape to form a mold, colored the resin to match the bottle and worked the resin into the mold... After a few days, I removed the tape to let it dry completely... It doesn't make a completely invisable repair, but it does make for a nice display... And it prevents the bottle from being passed off as undamaged...
