Picked this item up this past weekend. Nice color with two patent dates: Sept. 14, 1880 and March 14, 1893. Nice 3 peice mold and measures 2 1/4" in diameter. Looked up the patent and origially had a iron stand it fit on. It was patemt by J Purty of Chicago, Ill. In his patent he states it was made specificly for the use of jewlers. Has some residue in the bottom but can't get the metal fixture off to clean. Don't want to force it off, afraid it might break. Should I leave it alone, or is there a way I could loosen it?
