This is a more recent pick up for me a looped green and white pontiled Southern New Jersey made egg.
The egg is the same size as a chicken egg, has potstones a ground rough pontil and I believe it was made
in the 1840 to 1860 time period as this is when this type of end of day whimsy was popular. This is my first
Nailsea type of glass that I own.The green and white ribbing are so thin they are transparent when held to a
bright light source. The green color is undoubtedly Southern New Jersey in nature.Enjoy

number 4 It really is quite amazing how this type of glass decor was achieved in molten vitrified glass.

Hi and thanks Steve.  A neat piece of glass making.  Any known studies of how they accomplished the fabrication?
