Hi, I just purchased these two Items out of an old house that I am slowly buying things from. The first one looks just like the lyons powder but reads John F Henry and is smooth base but probably 1870s I believe.Anyone have any Info or a value as I would like to sell but cant find any Info. The second is a large flip glass that is etched with flowers and grapes and is also smooth base but maybe from the same time period. Any Info on this one as well and maybe a value as I am clueless. Thanks ,Kevin

Not sure about your Lyons look alike but my wife would love to have the glass.  Looks like a large, purple version of her parateef (have no clue on how to spell it) glasses.  Makes me wonder if it's irradiated.

Hi Poison_Us, The glass is not color enhanced and is damage free. If your wife likes it make me an offer because I would like to see it go to someone on the forum than put it on the bay. Let me know. Thanks, Kevin

That is a pretty rare bug powder. Worth a good bit.
J F Henry was a huge patent medicine proprietor. They owned some of the most famous early medicine lines.
Nice find.

Like Lyon's powders, John Henrys made it out West in considerable numbers. I have dug them here in Sacramento and in a few gold camps in the Sierra. All that I have seen are a pale yellow to citron, but no wild colors like Lyon's.

Just as a matter of interest to Caldigger and all the other John Henry fans- the John Henry bottles were not only made in wild colors but one of only two manufacturers that made a true COBALT insect powder to my knowledge;I know this because the cobalt John Henry is in my collection.A cobalt Lyons is in Jim hagenbuchs collection! Happy buggin! Pup
