Dug this bottle a while back but haven't been able to find any info on it. It is 4 in. tall by 1 1/2 in. diam. It has a ground top with two deep square indentations on opposite sides. It is embossed "MACMAHAN'S HANDICAP" with a large Monogram. No embossing on base. Just wonder if anyone has seen one of these or has any ideas what it contained. Odd top makes me wonder if it could be English ?

Maybe Scottish from the name.
An odd bottle.
Could the top have been broken off then ground flat?
The indentations like like they ancored some bail mechanism.

Top looks to have been ground when ithe bottle was made. I am guessing that it probably had some sort of metal top that fit into the indents, possibly a small snap or bail type latch. Certainly different than any closures I have seen on US bottles. Another one of my curiosities about the bottle.

Hi Gunther,
I suppose the "HANDICAP" could refer to a type of closure but I haven't found any info to back that up.
