I do know Meadville had Belgian glass blowers working at glasshouses between 1882-1895. A place called Market House, a commercial market place, was renovated in Meadville in the 1970's and I wonder if this was a commemorative piece. I would have thought it would have said that, however. Thanks for any help.
As you can see it was strongly embossed.
Joel

Hey Joel, I keep sayin that I am not an athority on flasks but I do seem to recall seeing some of those before. They are not repros but one time runs from the 70s. Plus the embossing sticks out a little to far for and old one.

It is a very good looking flask though and  should have pretty good value if it is a one time run flask.

Hey Cappy,

Long time no see. Thanks for the info!! Probably, a one time celebrant piece from the Meadville PA, Market House renovation. It is certainly a quality piece a production. Nicely finished.

It was brought to me to buy. I am not buying much right now (exception - VT glass), especially flasks I know nothing about. It came with another bottle I am curious about.

That one has the appearance of an early piece, as it has a nice globby, applied lip. It has too many oblonge bubbles for me to believe it is not an Italian, Spanish, Mexican, etc produced piece which came out of the later part of the 20th century. Picture attached.

I told him to put them on EBay to sell them.

That isn't dust you see in the lip opening. It is zinc or some type of metalic alloy that was pressed into the groove where the applied glob meets the long pull of the neck.

According to PA Historical Places and Museums, the Meadville PA Market House is PA State's oldest, continually running Markethouse. There was a second story added to it in 1917 which houses art but no mention yet of a glass house.

Anyone know any more about this flask?

Joel

I think it's from the 70s too. I saw one sell on ebay for, I think, around $150.00

Thanks Brian,

I beginning to think I had left the post in the wrong place or I am persona non grata. It is a nice flask. I would buy it myself but if it is that much I owe it to the fella to put it out to auction. It is a beauty.

Bill Lindsey thinks it too bold a strike to be of era so it most probably is a one time run and probably a celebrant of the Market House.

So what new finds have you to brag about Brian? I really, really liked that Hickey. Knew a Reverend Hickey once!

Well, its off to work so I will see you on the ridges.

Joel

Hi Joel!  Meadville flask is (to my eye) definitely not of 19th century manufacture.  The other bottle is, of course, a DECK SWEEPER!

Did I sense a bit of Vermont dry humor there or do you really think it is a deck sweeper? I know lately, there have been some rather bold opinions about bottles being deck sweepers on eBay.

I like the Tried and True "Fenn"!

Here is one you don't see everyday. Dr. E.K. Smith Poultney Vermont.  We had a Dr. Elisha Smith but he dates to 1812. This bottle is clearly 1880-ish.

Good to hear from you Jeff. Thanks for chiming in.

We will let the market decide. I listed it for the guy on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150302935546&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:1123
Good luck to anyone bidding on it!
Joel
