Hi all, I was wondering if someone could help me. Recently I dug up a Mason's patented Nov 30th 1858 jar. It is a tall jar with a rough lip and almost no shoulder. It has a large "E" embossed on the bottom. I have seen jars with numbers on the bottoms, but not letters. Any ideas on what I have found? Any help genuinely appreciated.

I have a few of these jars.  I also have one that has that E on it.  But we have also come to the conclusion that it is a backwards 3.  On my jar the E has the rounded edges making it look like a "3".
