picked these two up for $10.  The Masons Improved had the glass top but was missing the zinc lid that holds it on.  If anyone has a spare can they help me out?  I'm not really into jars but its the first one I've run across that had the glass lid with it.

The Masons Improved had a patent date of Nov. 26 of 67 and had a 64 in the middle of bottom.

The Masons Patent NOV 30th 1858 had a patent date on the bottom of Nov 26 of 67 with a 566 in the middle.  Why the different dates?

Nice find, The rings are tough to come by and by the time you pay shipping will cost as much as the jar! check garage sales and markets you might get lucky. The red book 9 lists the jars as 1-mason improved # 1725 value of 6-8 and the mason patent as # 1939 value of 4-6. Good hunting
as to question of patent dates these only refer to the general patents for the jars ie different features = different patent dates
