My friend found this metal figure detecting. It is heavy for its size,It feels like its made of lead.To me it looks like a Scott's man. He has a kilt and a sword on his back.Anyone know what this might have been used for? toy? game piece? year it was made? Im not asking to much am I?? Thanks Rick

Seems like a toy of some sort, a big one. Lead was a common material for cast toys. Lead toys would be a hard sell now days

If it is lead , it could have came from a lead mold kit that kids were able to buy at one time , I have a couple of them plus other molds of interest . Heaven forbid if a Child would touch a piece of lead today .

Hey Rick, I just got a chance to read your article for the bottle magazine.  It was really good.  I couldn't put it down and it was a really nice story.  It would get anyone interested in digging.  It's so nice when you can dig with your family. Congrats on your story!!

Know what you mean Rick , if it is lead it is probably quite a bit older than the lead molds I am referring to .

I used to do that too Joe , then it got where I was unable to get them anymore around here . Recently bought some old newspaper letter prints , they are mixed with something else besides lead , but will still pour pretty good . Also bought a good sized box of one pound lead bars , and have yet to use any of it . Might have to get out there and get busy . I bought a small 0 to 2500 degree kiln a couple of years ago and need to put it to use . Only used it once since I have had it .
