Matt and Joel invited me up to the dump they have been digging. I had a blast even in the rain! I was able to find a few keepers including this milk! Now I am not a milk bottle collector but I thought this one miy be worth keeping. But I don't know where it is from, I dug it in NH. but pretty close to VT. so I assume that it is form somewhere around there. Are there any milk bottle collectors out here that can help me with this one?

It says Honey Gardens semi circle around a beehive and P.N.Townsend at the bottom. Above that is a honet comb, and on the back is a clover on top and one Quart Liquid on the bottom. There is the number 11 on the bottom heal and on the bottom is T. MFG. CO. 18

It will be great to see what you guys think. Thanks for any help!

Hey Mike that's a nice early one for sure.  Here's an excerpt from  David Whittens maker's marks web page:  T MFG CO...............Thatcher Manufacturing Company, Kane, PA; Elmira, NY; other locations (1904-1985). Mark used circa 1910s-1920s.

I'd quess 1918 as the date.  Any milk with a beehive is a good one in my opinion.  Not sure if there's a national directory but probably one for Ney York and some of the surrounding states.

PS, that's a good candidate for a light tumble although it might hurt the embossing.  The honeycomb is interesting since it should be pentagons.

Yeh, I thought it was a deal too. Even shipping shouldn't be too much. Interesting how a NH milk ends up in Miss. I'd like to hear that story. Maybe they just reloated and brought it  this year but who knows? Maybe it got there in a Model T and held extra water for the radiator.

Wow Thanks guys, I googled it, Yahoo'ed it and came up with nothing! I even looked on Ebay and found nothing but I guess I didn't look at auctions that have ended! I would think that it would have done better then $9.99 goes to show you, you just never know!   Mike

Mike,
There is a townsend, vT but I am not aware of any Vermont bottles like that. I believe it is your typical, common, $10-15 dollar bottle. It isn't on any lists I have for Vt or upstate NY. Perhaps, NH.

Many people from here, went south to farm. Probably had something stored in it and brought it with them.

I'de give you $10 bucks for it the way it is. Probably $25 if it were in better shape. Joel

Mike,
You can find most all your bottle marks at this location:
http://www.myinsulators.com/glass-factories/bottlemarks.html

That indeed is a thatcher bottle.

That is a honey bottle, in a milk shape. I have about 10 of those type, plus maple syrup milk bottles.
As far as it going from one place to another, either someone really liked that brand, or another honey seller put his label on that bottle. That was common with many bottles, to include meds, sodas, etc...

It was used for honey no mater what kind of bottle it is. My mom looked at it and said she remembers those bottles full of honey. Said that particular bottle held clover honey ( thus the three leaf clover) and there were others with corn, honeysuckle and a bush to show what kind of honey was in them. my dad said he remembers them to. His mom busted his but for shooting them with a 22.

Yoour elders can be a wealth of history and bottle info.

Thanks Mike. Folks in our family tend to live pretty long lifes. My dad has alzhimers but so far it only causes him to believe his dreams are real. He is usually not much help on bottles except to tell you that he shot one.

My mom on the other hand has tons of info in her head about them. She has helped me alot with bottles and in return I have built her a collection of bottles and jars from her youth. My dad is pretty helpful on weird old tools, farm impliments and other stuff that a boy of the 1920s would know about.
