Hold on to your hats.  My guess is that this one is going to break $1000.

It's the white moon w/ the hillbilly on the neck John. There's maybe 3-4 of these bottles known. Jimmie Wood told me there was only one and he had it. Looks like someone has another.

WoW!  Didn't realize some of these pop bottles were so valuable.  I knew the Mountain Dew were pretty collectible but not that pricey.  Thanks for sharing the link.  I want to see where this one goes.     Paul

All I can do is ogle and drool when these uber expensive dew's hit the bay. As much as I want one, I could never justify the price for these uber dews. $3000 for a party jug, $1000 or more for the double shoulder dew, $1000 for the clear barney and ally, and now nearly $500 for this one is a bit hard to take. I love my dews, but I will have to pass on these because the price is kind of insane. A man can dream.

As SpongeBob, Patrick and I skip thru Bikini Bottom jellyfishing (yes, I do have a 2-year-old and the yellow sponge and his pink starfish friend are a part of our daily routine), I dream of blue jellyfish (the rarest ones, according to "Bob-Bob") and Squidward having his yearly yard sale.   And what do I spy among his usual things - a Dew Party Jug.  I catch my breath as I ask Squidward what he wants for it and he says, "That old thing?  Go ahead and take it.  And here, take this clear Barney and Alley too."

Then Patrick bops me with his net as he tries to catch a jellyfish and wakes me up.

Oh wait a minute, that wasn't Patrick, it was Shaun, boping me with his teddy bear.

Oh well, nice dream while it lasted.

*sigh*

(Girls can dream too...hehe)

You are right Morboius..  Mountain Dew collectors sure are fantical and will pay some crazy prices to add the rare ones to their collections.  I tried to start up a Dew collction, but kind of lost interest because of the high prices and all the competition.

John, Pat was right when he said the the neck label with the large white background is what has gotten all the Dew collectors in a frenzy.  I know of 4 of these bottles and with rlo's find that makes five.  The ones I know of all come from North Carolina collections.  Is that where yours is from rlo?

Moutain Dew was originally made to be used as a mixer with your spirits.  It looks like Kathy has been using it the way it was originally inteneded.  Just kidding with you Kathy.  Very creative post.

i believe the reason they call it moon willie is the hillbilly on the neck has a white circle behind him. compare your's to the one in the auction and you will see the difference.

I do collect Mountain Dew bottles; however, I haven't reached that level of fanatic. I have had a few lucky finds that have helped elevate my collection from medeocre to mildly interesting. Of course I collect glass bottle Dews from the beginning to the present day, Dew competitors, Tip bottles, and even a few Tri-City and Hartman Beverages. All of this helps alieviate the boredom that can come from not being able to afford insane Dew prices.  Mountain Dew is my favorite drink of all time and it would be unthinkable that I didn't collect them, I just wish the prices weren't as crazy as they are.

I too love Dew (well, for me, it has to be diet-Dew).  And after a long day of "Bob-Bob" (and a hyper two-year-old and a clingy hubby, or is it a clingy two-year-old and a hyper hubby, I never can get it straight which is which). a nice cold bubbly Dew is just the thing I need.

Then, I make posts at the wee hours of the morning, when everyone else is counting their ZZZZs, because that's the only time both hyper and clingy are also counting ZZZZs and the house is quiet, I am liable to post about anything.   But then again, compared to Brokeback Forum and the KK meetings, "Bob-Bob" fits right in there with the rest (and is G rated).  And I have to at least try to keep up.

:)
