Ususally underneath the word Coca Cola it will say something, If it says Nov. 16 1915 then it will date b/t 1915 and 1923. If it says Dec. 25 1923 it will date b/t 1923 up to 1939?? then you have Pat. D-105529 they are 1939? to 1950 something. Then you have U.S Patent Office, not sure when they date around. But on all of these there should be a glass maker's mark on one of the ribs, or on the base. The date it was made will usually be the 2 digit number to the right of the maker's mark. Sometimes the maker's mark is found on the bottom. I didn't go into too much detail because I am quite sure there are many other ways of finding out how old they are. The first two ways are the best way of finding out. All in all you Nov. 16 1915 and Dec. 25 1923 bottles are going to be worth the most, depending on the town's name. Some are more common than others.

Also as for Dr. Peppers, the ones that are wort the most are the embossed bottles (words stick out), not the debossed bottles (words are sunk in). As for Orange Crush email mrosman@sympatico.ca he is one of the biggest OC collectors that I know.

I have to disagree with barqs 10. Debossed means sticks out embossed means pressed into the glass. the debossed glass on the DR pepper bottles are worth the most and hardest to find. I only have one but about 20 of the embossed (sunk in ). the coke 1915 bottles didn't actually come out till 1917 and the 1923 bottles came out in 1925. They were both used for several years after the dates. Generally cokes are dated a little above the base. I don't think I have ever seen a hobble skirt dated on bottom but I could be wrong. Im not really in to hobble skirts. If im wrong im sure someone will correct me. I hope I haven't mislead you.

The Pepsi on far left is probably what is refereed to as a war time bottle. It would have had a paper label on it. Look on the bottom it will probably have a date from the mid 40's. It looks like you have a good collection there. 160z bottles are a funny thing not a lot of people collect them but some specialize in them and it seems the ones you have shown are not very common. I hope This gives you a lil more info.

Unfortunately it is a plastic wrapped bottle not an acl. Boy does it taste great. I had one about 6 months ago. it hasn't made it to my area yet but I was working and found it about 60 miles away.

Thanks for the info Robert! I really do appreciate your and everyone's else's help
I'll list the date's and town names sometime soon. Hope some of these are winners because I don't really care for the coke bottles. It might be a good place to make some money back.

Something else to look at on acl bottles. Look at the base of the bottle look for a nipple or indention. If your bottle doesn't have either it could possibly be an early version that was hand screened. My understanding is that when the machines screen printed the bottles it would find the indention to line the bottle properly for the transfer of the image. Just a little bit of info I picked up not long ago. If im wrong I hope someone will let me know.

Thanks for that info Brian! I saw the Evervess sold on e-bay for $25. It was a 1955. Mine are both from 1947 and in near mint. Also the Canyon city with the cowboys sold for $40.03. about four months ago.

Just did a quick check of a few of my bottels all have the nipple mark but one the RC cola 1936 has no nippels.

Actually Debossed does mean sunk in and embossed sticks out. Embossed means to decorate with or as if with a raised design (www.dictionary.com). I have a lot of embossed barq's bottles reason being and I've seen a lot of collectors where the only they collect is embossed bottles, nothing else. The only bottle that is debossed that I can think of right off hand is the Dr. Pepper bottle. As for the Barq's Floatz bottle, I have been a Barq's fan all my life, truthfully, I hate it and so does everyone else I've talked too. They made it too sweet. The design of the bottle is nice, but I talked to the guy who designed it and he said if Coca Cola had been willing to spend an extra .5 on each bottle they could have made it an ACL, but as usual plastic wins because it was cheaper... .5 cheaper. I don't think it will last too long.

Well, I can admit when I am wrong. According to the dictionary I am. Debossed doesn't seem to be a word either. Every collector or bottle seller I have talked to refers to the DR pepper bottle as pressed in embossed and the protruding out debossed. It is a shame they have gone to wrapping bottles instead of Acl. I do agree it is a little sweet but still nice everyonce in awhile.

I agree that embossed means raised above the surface and debossed refers to pressed into the surface. Like flaserr says, debossed doesn't seem to be a 'real' word. The attached pic shows a stoneware bottle with debossed lettering.
