Thanks for all the ideas about cans ! :) The last one i read had me intrigued. Every can I've ever dug has the same boring brown look. These can't be brought back to life in some way can they ? i only ask because I've seen a (dead) link on the net about how to bring rusted beer cans back to semi-respectabiliy. I have always assumed the rust has actually replaced the label section, not covered it.

i have preserved some cans using reverse electrolosis..this works well but you will loose any label or applied paint that may be remaining...i only do this for items of historical context...that are needed to tell a part of the story...example..if i find a gouping of 58 cal civil war bullets..and a cartridge box tin that went with it..i will preserve the tin to show the relationship with the bullets.....too many beer can collectors out there that have pristine cans in their collection's..to worry about old scrappers..just an opinion

wow, thats a pretty dramtic reversal. i thought the rust was replacing the exterior, not covering it. dave.
