Went diving in the Darling river yesterday behind old homestead. There has been an old pub on this site dating back to the 1860s these are some of the better finds. The gin with the blobby top is a v Hoytema & co.

Warren, The tall bottle is a New South Wales lager Bier, this is the first one I have found, as soon as I felt it under water I knew what is was even though I couldnt see it.
I cant wait to get back there next week.

Nice haul there! Are those gins pontiled? and what is on those little cups?

Like Wayne says, diving is the really the only spot left for finding bottles, so keep up the good work.

Hey, Aussiebotlo...

Nice "wet" finds and clean too... sure make a Northern New England bottle diver jealous... But warmer days are coming in about 3 to 4 months maybe...

In the meantime, I'll just have to go to the library and look up all those New spots I'm gonna be diving when the ice melts!!

You take care down there and be safe... those three gins are quite nice... all with different tops and all.. nice area to keep diving, ey...

Thanks Wayne, dont have to wait for the warmer weather here it was 45deg C here yesterday.

All these bottles were in the mud so they came out nice and shiny and clean.

Yeah good one Wayne, these are a result of a lot of research old maps etc. I still have a lot more days without finding to much but like they say a bad day bottling is still better than a good day working.

Hey John, New South Wales lager bier. Pretty cool. Thats a lot of beer. I was in Australia with the Air Force back in the 70s. Some where up north at an auxiliary air field. It was really a WW2 Clay dirt strip with a few shacks and a big tent but the beer was cold.

Those NSW Lager Bier's are one of my favourite Sydney beer bottles; they also come in two sizes (ridiculoulsly large -> like the one you found, and normal height but almost empty -> a little rarer).

Warith,

It is a nice bottle. It is unusual to find NSW beers down this way usually SA and Vic. What do you think it is worth.

Aussiebotlo...

Hey John, how you doing today... get into the water? I didn't... I'm having wicked bad bottle withdrawal So depressed... plus I'm pulling out records and paperwork for tax time and that really bites!!

So, to cheer myself up, I went over to the shelf and took down a pair of bottles to photograph!! One is a US Navy Pepper and the other is a US Navy Mustard...
These were found in 23' of water in Kittery, Maine just outside of the oldest active US shipyard in America!! They probably came off a Navy warship and I guess they may be just after the Civil War?

Kind of cool, they were found about 50 feet from eachother. This is how they cleaned up from the muriatic acid bath. I've been thinking about sending them out to get "tumbled" which would make them sparkle... what do you think?

Wayne
