Hi all. Noobie here. But I like beer! And have some great old bottles (1890's early Guinness, 1870's Dublin Stout, etc)....

A bit perplexed on another one of my bottle! Here is what appears to be an antique clay Murphy's Irish Stout bottle.
Can anyone of you experts give me any info on this bottle? Approximate year of production & current value?

Thanks all!

Hello mr. vitreous,

Welcome to the Blue Pages. This is the first of these, I've seen.

I'm struck by the four color graphics, and the showroom sheen. I've not read the book on this outfit. From Tower Books, which is no more.

Could'ya further photo the top and base, please?

From.

Hey vitreous,

The top just does not look right to me. The bottom view is a bit fuzzy, but doesn't seem to show much in the way of wear. The four color graphics say modern times to me. I think this may be a modernish advertising piece, or commemorative. I believe Murphy's Stout was bottled in glass by the Irish Glass Bottle Co., of Cork.

Yes there is very little wear on the bottom & bottle in general, unlike my bottles from the 1870-1890's.

So in other words, you believe that this is a modern piece that is trying to capture an antique feel?

on old stoneware bottles you don't often see multi-colored transfer prints, that bottle is new.

Got it. Do anyone know if this is a special edition or collectors item? I can't seem to find any information online... starting to think it may be a rare piece...
