Just getting into the hobby after finding a local tip.  These were surface finds, not started digging yet.  I have no idea of the ages of any of them or the identity of any of the non-embossed ones! , any help would be greatly appreciated.  Most have seems that do not extend to the lips, so I'm assuming some are pre 1900.  Noteables ones are 2 Mellor & Co Worcester Sauce Bottles (Worcester),  A Guy's Tonic bottle, A Mellins Food sample Bottle, and a Symington and Co Coffee bottle and a Terezol Furniture polish hexagonal bottle.   I'm in the UK.   Please let me know any comment you have, as I have just started this exciting hobby!! thanks!

It's the Blob topped bottle just to the right of that bottle. This one.

It looks like you have a lot of sauces, I don't see the Mellin's sample in the pic? The Mellin's are very common. Gerber put them out of business in the 20's if I remember correctly LOL.

Hopefully there are some better bots down deeper. Good luck.  I'm posting a link for you to take a look at It's mainly for U.S. bottles but the glossary will help with definitions. PS welcome to the Forum.

Thanks cc6pack that will help a lot, all this new terminology.  The mellins is the small bottle, far right at the very front.  It says "Sample of mellins food" embossed on the front.
Thanks again!

Banton, Welcome to the forum and a great hobby. If you picked up that kind of stuff on the surface, there is no telling what better things are under the ground. And since they were on the surface, the better bottles should not be very deep. Good luck and show us what you dig up.  Thanks,  Marvin "the mole"

Im going back there tomorrow (Tuesday), its only a 15 minute walk from my house, I'll finish skimming the surface first, its littered with whole and part bottles like the ones in the pics.  From the pics, can anyone tell me what date it looks like this dump was in use?  More pics tomorrow!
Thanks for the warm welcome!

Mostly turn of the century thru the 1920s except for the blob top soda/beer/mineral water.

The blob bottles like that are alot more common up north than here and not something that I know alot about but if it is not pontiled myt guess would be1860s to 1870s.

I'm sure someone will come along who can help you beter than I can with that one. A close up of the top and bottom would help.

Since those are surface finds you really need to go back with a shovel and some hand scratchers and spades and dig dig dig.

Capsoda, I have cleaned that soda bottle up a bit better, no writing on the surface, or the base.
