but once or twice a yearI get these BIG ASS flies. Usually in the Spring and Fall. Today I found a drove of 'em in the kitchen 20-30 of them. They don't get on stuff [food] just hang around the window and are drawn to light. They're about four times the size of a housefly and usally are between the window and the screen. There not a blowfly I know or I think I know. They do make a lot of noise. Just wondering.

Nasty fly, Nice bottle. Does good old fly papper help at least catch them? This year in a built in window bench I opened it up I found about 75 ladybugs. I carefully took them all outside and next day found more. I never had that problem before. I don't like to use chemicals in my home so I think I'll check again as seeing this just jogged my memory. Good luck, and I'm sure your house ain't nasty, even the best of homes get all kinds of stuff like, "bed bugs," especially from traveling in hotels. LOL.

big wood eating bumble bees swarm over the house this time every year. carpenter bees. I had exterminator come out twice in past 10 years. can't stand paying 80 bucks for all of 10 seconds of work. Me and my daughter usually swat them with tennis rackets. She got the bright idea of spraying air freshener in the air. the "meadow scent'" brought them down to swatting level. Her science teacher told her not to do it anymore since all the bees were dying all over the US.

A good solution for ants is to sprinkle some cayenne pepper wherever you see them coming from.  Just make sure no pets or kids can get to it.  Duh.

Another good one for ants is lemon slices cut up and laid around.  Works like a charm.
