Hello -

I thought I'd post some pictures of the few bottles that I have in my collection.

The group to the left are what i believe are the oldest, I think they are pre-1900, but please correct me if I'm wrong... there is a clear embossed Welchs Grape Juice bottle, an embossed Dr. Kings New Life Pill bottle, a brown embossed American Hair Color New York bottle, and a purple bottle with no markings (except a small 3 on one side).  I picked all of these up in stores in little mining towns in the Colorado mountains for a few dollars each.  I was told that the Lavendar bottle used to be clear but changed because of manganese in it and the intensity of the UV light in the mountain creek it was found in.  After doing some research, I understand these can be faked, so I'm not sure if this was naturally changed or not.

In the middle, I have a couple of newer bottles I believe them to be post 1900.  My favorite by far is the "Lucille Young's Bust Massage", I picked up all three of these in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, another mountain town.

Far to the right are more modern bottles, which are the first that I collected so I love them.  As you can see some of them have threads at the top which I believe is an indication of a more modern bottle.  I love the one filled with all different shapes, sizes and colors of pearls, that is my favorite of the newer bottles.

Any info on any of these bottles would be appreciated!

Thanks!
Teri

I agree. I haven't seen either of those Welch's bottles before.

I emailed Welch's today to see if they have any records on when this specific bottle was in production.  Who knows maybe they have someone who can give me info

Nice bottles. Thanks for sharing.  Love the labels.  Beware of the fake/phony labels.  There were some fakes at the Pittsburgh Show last weekend on some beautiful, unembossed bottles.

nice collection..... Penn Digger you took the words right out of my mouth about the labels... and even seen people trying to sell bottles and blue glass from dollar stores, Christmas tree shops, in antique shops and consignment shops and it makes me mad. Because to someone who doesn't know any better it can fool them...and they rip them off.

Some of the early Welchs bottles are pretty rare. I sold one a while back to one of the last descendants of the family for a pretty high price.

is is the thread I posted the early welchs bottle in

GUTH IT IS IRONIC THAT WELCES GRAPE JUICE WAS MADE TO REPLACE WINE IN THE USE FOR COMMUNION IN CHURCHES,AS MY DAD WAS A DEACON IN A BAPTIST FOR 35 YEARS AND EARLY ON HE USED TO TELL CHURCH MEMBERS THAT NO WHERE IN THE BIBLE DID IT SAY TO USE WELCHES GRAPE JUICE! [HE DID NOT KNOW THAT IS WHY IT WAS MADE!} WELL POP MADE THE WINE FOR CHURCH AND IT WAS USED UNTIL IT WAS DISCOVERED THE YOUTH OF THE CHURCH WERE SLIPPING AROUND AND DRINGING THE LEFT OVER WINE! NOW WELCES IS USED AFTER ALL! THE ROUND BOTTLE IS DUG AROUND HERE AT A 1912 or so/20s DUMP.
