Here is with the 4" canister 1 day into tumbling and after I just put on the 6" canister. I had to move the tumbling system to the floor, since the table was vibrating and making a noise that could be heard threw the whole house. It will be nice to see my bottles nice and clean.

I have heard after I take the bottles out after 4 days of polishing I will have to wash the bottles with some kind of chemical or something. what would be best to use without using a acid.

Tom

I removed my bottles after 4 and a half days and the bottles came out
looking great, but the 3 pronged stopple on the 6 inch cannister had
groves cut into them where the base was touching it, is this normal or
did I do something wrong. also the top stopple had a indented ring in
the rubber. see my treasurehunt folder for pictures

Thanx Tom

Tom, that is typical to see the groves in the stopple figures but sometimes if you don’t push the mouth stopper in tight enough the bottle will roll around inside the base stopper and cut a grove. How much pressure did you use?

It's kind of hard to tell how much pressure you are putting on when trying to tighten the top stopple, the bottle is 2/3rd of the way up burried by copper. There was a small chip that came off the bottom near the base while tumbling, could that of did anything?

It’s hard to say how the chip came off but next time try putting a little bit more pressure on the mouth stopple wile tightening it. Larger round bottles would have a better chance of slipping compared to a small round bottle. All of my stopples looks like yours with the “cut” marks but I can’t say they looked that way after the first use because I can’t remember back that far. It’s nothing to worry about and they will still work fine.

I saw the dig in the glass down by the base before I put the bottle in, I didn,t think the glass would come out. But that's why I did that bottle first.

Go to the lumber yard and buy a gallon of muratic acid and a plastic container about the size of  6" wide and about 12 or 14" tall, and a 3/8" by 3' wood dowel rod. mix 1/3 acid and 2/3rds water in the container. Put the bottle in the container for about an hour, remove with the dowel rod broken in half and rinse. I will remove all the black specks from the bottle, guaranteed. I also got some more 3/*' dowel rods, and got a piece of wood 4" square about 2 feet long, drill several 3/8" holes in it, stuck pieces pf the rod in them and made a great drying rack, works great, Doyle near Houston..

Great idea about the bottle dryer.  Just be careful with that muratic acid...Wicked Stuff!!  Don't even sniff it...it will kill brain cells quicker than radiation!!

I'm not sure about the swimming pool.  Don't have one myself.  If it's super diluted, I suppose it wouldn't hurt you, but I can assure you, having worked in the mason industry, that even a 1-4 dilution will burn the daylights out of any bare skin.  It's used to etch concrete as well.  I have a bottle on hand to cure my bottles of their tough stains...still wish I had a tumbler though!

Ya noticed when I said go to lumber yard and get several dowel rods, and break one in half, thats for getting the ol bottles out out of the stuff!. I set the plastic jug outside on my cleaning table I built with a sink and water hose so all is very convenient. I made the mistake of having it inside for about 3 months, and noticed all my tools were starting to rust!!, so now its outside on the table. I have had the same solution setting there for about a year now, and still does a great job, thanx, Doyle
