I'm new to the forum and I've been busy on the other site but I finally got around to the pot lids.  I really wasn't sure what exactlly pot lids were and I've been digging for 30 years.  So when I saw what they were I remembered digging one up years ago.  I started going through my boxes of stored bottles and here it is.  Any  comments or info would be wonderful.  I really liked the face on the cow and I believe the French words say vegetable (something) beef.  Anyway what do you think.

Hello Jerry,

Cyberdigger is right with the translation real but can also mean genuine as translations can be vague in there meaning.
This lid is French as you know and dates from around 1860 -1870 and is made from porcelain rather than the normal china material of most pot lids.
This print is also put on over the glaze which makes it susceptable to wear where as the majority of lids are transferred and then glazed over which generally protects the the print.

Hope this helps
