You seem to be doing quite well with the crocks Bill, I seldom ever dug any, and when I did they were all damaged in one way or another. I hope you keep your lucky streak going.

Hey  Thanks Paul, Anna andNCdiger   L C The two dark crocks came from with in 100 feet of an old kiln. Not sure if that the correct spelling. The other out of a creek .It was protected by an old tracktor tire. I've just  recently found ether a dumping site or the site of Thomas pottery . Well in truth I found it 41 or 42  years ago when I was 7 or 8  and just recently redicovered it. Have'nt  dug there yet only scrachted around and found several pipes and lots of broken stoneware. Hoping to get in there an dig around soon .  Thanks agian all and good luck diggen .bill

Great finds, I really like those two ovate jugs in the back, I wish people still sold stuff in containers like that. I would be careful about the info that you give out, as it seems like there are alot of diggers down there who might like to exploit your awesome sounding pottery dumpsite, some of whom would be unscrupulous enough to use the clues you gave in good faith to try to find it. I have reread posts of mine from a different perspective and saw how local people could easily narrow down where i'm digging, if they wanted, so I revised a bit. Good luck digging there, hopefully more of the same pops out!

And the stoneware bottle of the lightest color, does it have some liberal writing debossed in it, or are those just some lines?

Bill, hopefully your rediscovery of the dump will turn out to be a great place to dig.

There is a ravine in a field not far from me that I found back in the seventies. It ran a good seventy five to a hundred feet in length, and was loaded with some of the most fancy crocks I had ever seen. Matter of fact, that was about all that was there, hardly no glass what so ever, I have never understood why there wer no glass or rusty cans. The only problem was, the crocks were all broke to pieces. It looked to me that someone had went out of their way to break every one of them. I have thought about going back to it to see if it is still the same as it was years ago. At the time, I never thought about trying to see if I could find the pieces to an entire crock or jug and attempt to put it back together. There were some there as I said that would have been simply beautiful had they been whole, a whole lot of them having cobalt print and design. There were some that were more or less common as well.  That is the kind of luck I usually had.

Hey Plumbata I'am sure that this could be true .But the fact is I have an open invetation to anyone who would like to come an dig . Granted there may be some that would want it all to there self but if asked I would take them right to it and wish them good luck .Besides a lot of the dumps I dig many have been there before me and showen me were they were . Share and Share alike I say . But dont touch my privy permission  Just joke any one can come on down I'am sure I got a shovel that will fit most peoples hand. Oh and those two jugs you see there were 6 of them in the same spot 3 were all there the other 3 had handel ot tops chiped or broken. LC thanks for the wishes and do you  need  some help hehe . Thanks Rhona  I'am sure youll hit some more . Thank you all for looking and your comments .Heres a few I traded for in the last week or so . Thanks agian an good luck diggen all.   bill
