Its about 900 sq feet and I have to dig down about a foot on average so i'm moveing a bit of dirt. My 6 year old son picks out shards of pottery and glass when he see them.  Found an intersting dish shard tonight. Maybe someone knows where or when it came from? ...You haul sixteen tons and what do you get, another day older and deeper in debt... We laid down two layers of heavy mill plastic and floated a pressure treated 2X4 floor over  it. Carpet was his choice of flooring. He still owes me a favor. Different than the stuff I have found before that had more reserved colors. It would be nice to find a couple whole items but I'm not holding my breath. Its amazing how much excess dirt can build up in a basement over 200 years. Where does it all come from No black widow spiders but a lot of odd looking centerpedes.
