I found an unembossed large insulator recently while snorkeling in a river.  It's a dark green color, which is fairly typical.  The inside has swirls that you can feel, but nothing distinct enough to call threads (you couldn't screw it on a pole, that's for sure).  I'm thinking it could be threadless, but it looks a little new.  Any information or guesses would be appreciated!

I still need to clean it off, it has that black river gunk on it.

old 1860's threadless insulator, nice find, it's the real deal. Those ripples in the pin hole are weird, cant say i've seen that before but i dont see too many threadless to begin with.

I can't descide between the 3 that look like yours on the bottom row.

http://www.nia.org/general/g_tless.htm

736.7 or 737.6

Right now, I think the rings are too close together to call it either...but I'm leaning towards the first one.

i think a 737.6 is a relatively small insulator, this one looks like a 736.7 to me.

Looks like a 736.7 to me. Is it 5 1/8" tall and 4" wide across the base with the mold line going over the top? It's only listed in dark emerald green. Hold on to your seat now........Listed in mint at $4000-$4500. GREAT find!!!!!!!!!!!

And to think I almost threw it back....wow!  It must be my best find yet.  Since I don't collect insulators, I'll be selling it to those interested.  It does have a lot of damage, mostly a large chip(s) under the base.

WOW!!  That's an awesome piece.

You almost threw it back?!  Rule of thumb:  never throw back or ignore a threadless insulator.  Even the most common threadless styles in specimen condition can sell for 25-50 and up.  One like this... well, it just doesn't sell often enough to allow a reasonable value estimate.

It's a 736.7 (old 744 if you have an old Milholland book) often called the "Jumbo threadless" because it's so big and heavy.

You sure you don't want to go diving again to see if there are more?

I revisited the site, but there's not a lot there.  The river is extremely rocky so not much survives.  The water was about 2 feet lower, which made it a little easier to look around.  Either there aren't many bottles or it has been picked clean.  The chances of finding another insulator are pretty slim.

Really nice find! I'm supposing you are showing its best side, which is not chipped too bad for one of those. Since its threadless people are willing to forgive some damage if they want one bad enough and it displays well, so I'd say that one's got some value.
