    I am hoping one of the many relic collector's in this forum maybe able to help.This is a recently dug button I can't find anything on.It is large in size ( 29mm.),and is marked SCOVILL MFG.  WATERBURY on the back.Thanks in advance for any information.Doug

Hey Doug. Waterbury produced buttons from 1860-1960. I've got some somewhere that belonged to a great uncle that where quite similar. I'll have to poke around. But if your looking for the correct answer email these fellas. info@cwrelics.com   they know their buttons, while i've lost most of mine. send them a pic (front&back) along with you question.

Doug, yours is a general service button for all arms and grades . This type button was started in 1902. There are many minor variations and backmarks of this button. Hope this helps,  Kelley

      Thanks for the help guys,I dug it out of old 1860's era privy,that had a bunch of tin foil and plastic and newer trash at the top.I found this early on so I was unsure of the age.Thanks again,Doug

Yes you are correct.  It is a General Service Eagle Button.  It is in Very good condition!!  Nice find there!!

Just wanted you all to see my buttons. I was told the two in the middle are from the Civil War US uniform? Not sure what branch, although the smaller one has an anchor on it. From left to right the backs read "Scovill MFG. Co. Waterbury." "Horstmann Philadelphia." nothing on the next & the last one says "Waterbury Button Co." with a (*) after that. I will post a pic of the two older ones together. Can anyone tell me about these?
