A fellow digger close by to me called me a few minutes ago and is coming over to show me and possibly sell me a milkglass patent medicine. It is embossed HITE'S PAIN CURE FOR HUMAN'S AND ANIMALS ROANOKE,VA. I dig these all the time in clear and aqua but never in milkglass and never heard of one in milkglass. What would be a fair price for a bottle like this?I would like to have it for my collection but i dont want to get burned either .Any help is appreciated.

In my opinion, and if it is unknown in that color it would be worth atleast $800 to serious cure collectors.

its perty for sure, that remedy instead of cure embossed on there knocks the legs out from under the value though...

I agree. It is still a valuable bottle but no where near what it would be if embossed with that magic word. Still a great local or to those who collect the white stuff.

I wonder why they blew some in milkglass? There doesnt seem to be any particular reason like for cosmetics bottles. Maybe they were done more as display pieces?

The neck looks a little funny, like it's too perfect for a 100 year old bottle.  Also the color is a little strange for milk glass.  Maybe someone got their hands on on a Hite's mold and made this bottle recently?  Just a thought.

I have no idea why these would be made in milkglass, maybe as matt said a display piece. As far as the form of the bottle it is the same exact form as all the aqua and clear ones i dig in 1890 to 1910 dumpsites.I have held the bottle in my hand personally and the picture does make it look different as far as the color. The color is a more dull look to it maybe he used a flash or something to give the shiny appearence in picture.

Hello you bottle people.  I just wrote a post on milk glass a few minutes ago and got timed out loosing the typing.  It seems to happen when I get rambling on too much.  Anyway milk glass is not the easiest glass to blow in some shapes, especially a med like this one. That was the main point of my try.  RED Matthews

That's a great bottle Eddie. Too bad he won't let go of it. I have only found the Roamoke bottle in clear. It too was a remedy bottle. The One shown from Staunton is a cure an in aqua. I have also found the Staunton bottle in clear but never found either one in milk glass. At least I know that they exist and the possibility is there that one might turn up. Thanks for posting.
